Happy St. Patricks Day!  It sure is green outside.  We have been enjoying this weather at recess.  In the classroom our reading theme is Down On The Farm.  The big book this week was Cows In The Kitchen.  We have had several books about different farm animal antics including cows that type, and chickens that are afraid or stuck.  Be sure to ask about it. Word families ending are  it, ip, in.  Popcorn word is THE.

Time and measurement were the topics in math.  In Kindergarten we work on reading time on the hour.  We use non-standard measurement using cubes and paper clips.

Kindergarteners have recess or PE and a snacktime.  If you would like to have your student to use a water bottle, they will be kept with his/her backpack.  The table space does not lend itself for water bottles on the tables at all times.  Thank you.

Kindergarten celebrated Dr. Suess this week.  In our class we read several titles and did some thinking about all knds of things.  In fact there are so many stories, we are going to continue with Dr. Suess stories next week as well.  WEDNESDAY will be WACKY.  Students might want to wear unmatched shoes or sock or...  Just remember that we should be going outside for recess. UP was the popcorn word.  AIL and AIN were the word families.

We have spent time printing all the lowercase letters using our word family words.  Students also need to be printing their names the correctly.

We wili be finishing up the math chapter on calendars, seasons, temperature and time to the hour next week.

The snow reminds us that indeed it is still winter and we will be like the little engine that could and make it to spring!  Ask the students about our stories this week including: The Little Engine That Could, Truck Stuck, and Vroom Chugga, Vroom Vroom. HAVE was the popcorn word, AKE, AME, ATE were the word family endings.

We continue with calendar activities in math and worked on assessments for report cards.

Students brought home a paper from the Handwriting Without Tears Program to help with letter formation.  These are not actual practice sheets, just reminders on how to form the letters.
